Piano Lesson
Policies and Guidelines
2007-2008 |
These are the guidelines every parent and student agrees to follow while enrolled in piano lessons:
The Lesson – I meet with each student for a 30 or 45 minute weekly minute weekly lesson. It is important that the student come to lessons each week with all current music books, their assignment book and practice record. Parents are welcome to sit in on the lesson anytime.
Missed lessons - I hope you’ll enjoy lessons so much you won’t want to miss, but I understand that life gets in the way sometimes. If you have to miss a lesson, we can try to schedule an alternate time the same week. If the absence is caused by illness or weather I won’t charge for that lesson. All other missed lessons are paid at regular price.
Books – I keep a supply of books on hand or can order conveniently so you can usually purchase books directly from me. Fees for books will be added to the next month’s bill. I also have a library of books that I loan out for recitals and other occasions. (You can buy these if you really like them.) You do need to provide a notebook that I write the weekly lesson assignments in. A spiral notebook of any size seems to work best.
Practice – Successful and rewarding music study depends on consistent practice. Beginning students should practice five 15-minute sessions per week, intermediate students five 30-minute sessions and advanced students are asked to practice five 60-minute sessions per week. Please record the time practiced on the practice sheet I provide and bring it to each lesson.
Recitals – Each student is given the opportunity to perform memorized pieces at two recitals throughout the year – a Christmas recital in December and a spring recital in June.
Fees and Billing – Tuition is $15 per lesson for ½ hour lessons, $20 per lesson for 45 minute lessons or $30 per hour for intermittent lessons. Books are not included in the monthly tuition and will be added to your bill. Bills are issued at the end of the month payable by the next lesson.
Satisfaction – It’s my desire that lessons are enjoyable and rewarding for every student. I’ll do my best to provide a comfortable environment and motivating music. If at any time the “fun factor” gets low for an extended period, I’m ready and willing to hear your (parent’s and student’s) thoughts on how we can work together to improve the learning experience.
Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to be your piano instructor!!
