Here's a little bit about my family:
  • I've been married to my best friend, Dareld,  for the past 18 years.  Along with our two children we enjoy hiking, camping, biking and almost anything we can do outside.

  • Here are some of the musical experiences I draw from when helping students enjoy learning to play the piano:
  • I started formal piano lessons when I was six years old and continued through my college years.  I know what it's like to practice and I know what it's like to miss practice and face a grouchy teacher.  As a teacher I love it when student's practice, but I also know how to have grace when life gets in the way.
  • I earned a bachelor of arts in music from Northwest University graduating with honors.
  • I had the privilege of participating in and placing in music competitions as a student giving me a perspective on "serious" piano.
  • I've also had the opportunity to perform at many weddings, accompany choirs and ensembles as well as be a church musician for the past 22 years giving me a perspective on what it means to play the piano for "fun"!
  • I've taught piano continuously for the past 19 years, giving me opportunity to discover what makes piano playing fun and rewarding at the same time.
